Jennifer Chen has been hired as the director of programming at Movieola and Silver Screen Classics, coming over from sibling Ouat Media Distribution.
Chen will program both digichannels, which are owned by Channel Zero in Toronto. Movieola runs short films, while SSC focuses on oldies from the 1930s through 1960s.
‘Jennifer’s proven strengths in acquisitions, coupled with her knowledge of short form content, make her the perfect fit for Movieola, and Silver Screen Classics,’ said Romen Podzyhun, president and CEO of Channel Zero, in a release.
Chen’s background in shorts includes her stint at Ouat, which also trades in short-form content, and her films including 15-minute comedy Password, seen on the festival circuit in 2006 and ’07. She was also head of distribution at the Canadian Film Centre.
Outgoing programmer Shane Smith has joined in-flight entertainment outfit Spafax Canada as an executive producer.
