New channel for TSN

TSN is set to launch a new 24-hour sports channel on Aug. 29 with exclusive live coverage of the U.S. Open tennis tournament.

TSN2 ‘will deliver more premium live sports programming while complementing TSN’s already powerful live sports lineup,’ said TSN president Phil King, in a statement.

The Category 2 digichannel will be available in both high definition and standard definition. It promises 800-plus hours of live sports coverage annually, averaging one exclusive live event or game per day, plus reruns of TSN programming, and better timeslots for Western Canada.

‘TSN2 provides additional value to our progressive and passionate sports audience as it allows us to air two live events simultaneously, giving sports fans more choice and diversity,’ King added.

Its roster boasts wide-ranging exclusive live sports coverage, including the NHL, CFL, NBA, curling, international hockey, golf, NASCAR, Grand Slam tennis, Champions League Soccer, boxing, mixed martial arts, and NCAA football and basketball.

To create awareness of its new counterpart, a comprehensive marketing campaign is in TSN’s game plan. All handled internally by the CTV Creative Agency, it will put into play print, radio, web and outdoor advertising, in addition to a targeted PR campaign, and daily promotion on TSN and the CTV family of channels.
