The Palm Springs International Film Festival is to showcase Canadian movies in January, organizers said Thursday.

The latest films by Sébastien Pilote, Denis Villeneuve and Bruce LaBruce will screen at the California festival as part of a Spotlight on Canadian Cinema sidebar.

Among the Canadian titles to be viewed in Palm Springs is Pilote’s The Auction, which stars Gabriel Arcand and Gilles Renaud, Peter Stebbing’s Empire of Dirt, and Villeneuve’s Enemy, the Jake Gyllenhaal-starrer that bowed in Toronto.

Also bound for Palm Springs is Louise Archambault’s Gabrielle, Canada’s contender in the best foreign language film competition at the Oscars, LaBruce’s Gerontophilia and The Grand Seduction, directed by Don McKellar.

The California festival also booked the Hot Docs opener The Manor, by Shawney Cohen, Chloé Robichaud’s debut feature Sarah Prefers to Run, Richie Mehta’s Siddharth, Stay, by Wiebke von Carolsfeld, and Denis Côté’s Vic + Flo Saw a Bear.

The Palm Springs International Film Festival is to run from Jan. 3 to 13.
