Nicola Merola named Pixcom Productions president

Pixcom Group founder and president Jacquelin Bouchard on Wednesday announced that Nicola Merola has been appointed as president of Pixcom Productions Inc.

Merola, who was previously VP of international TV productions, will continue to manage all international production at the Montreal-based company. In addition, he will now manage the French-language documentary and lifestyle division, headed up by Nicole Faucher; youth programming, led by Therese Pinho; and new media, headed up by Nadine Dufour.

The fiction division for TV and cinema will remain under Bouchard’s direction.

Merola has been with Pixcom for more than 15 years, during which time he has worked on developing the company’s international division and doc series slate. Pixcom Productions’ doc series include Licence to Drill (Discovery Canada, Canal D) and Bomb Hunters (History Canada) and their digital media extensions. Pixcom also produces Restoration Garage for History Canada, and the upcoming Canadian game show Pop Quiz with Incendo for E!.

“Pixcom has never backed away from any challenge and our goal is always to continue to grow, to develop and to push the content and technological boundaries of what is possible in our industry,” said Merola in a statement. “Jacquelin has passed on to me what he calls Pixcom 3.0. With everyone by my side, my goal is to push the company’s potential even further,” he added.

Pixcom Productions is the production division of the Pixcom Group, a Montreal-based communications company founded by Bouchard in 1987.
