Sinking Ship has orders for another round of its The Jungle Room — though this time the reality preschool series will be known as The Ocean Room. TVOntario, Access in Alberta and Knowledge have picked up the second season, set to start work on 26 11-minute episodes in spring, going to air next fall.
In a statement, TVO kiddie chief Patricia Ellingson said The Ocean Room ‘continues the tradition of The Jungle Room‘ by helping children prepare for the unfamiliar world of kindergarten. ‘This series provides a rare opportunity for all of us who care about kids to study and learn directly from them.’
SCN, which aired season one along with the other educasters, is still in talks.
Each episode follows children through typical days at their preschool. The second season will feature a new group of children at a different Toronto preschool.
The switch to an ocean theme — a reference to a coral reef and shipwreck designed for the classroom — has apparently left one cast member unemployed. Sinking Ship (This Is Daniel Cook) says Moxey, the monkey puppet seen in season one, will be ‘replaced with a sea creature.’
