After nearly 18 months of negotiations over its national commercial agreement, ACTRA says it has reached a tentative agreement with the associations that represent Canada’s advertising industry — and will discuss the details with its members Tuesday night at a meeting in Toronto.
A strike by the performers union has been looming since talks with the Institute of Communication Agencies and the Association of Canadian Advertisers broke down late last month. ACTRA had asked for a ‘conciliation officers report,’ which would have put the union in a legal strike position by mid-October.
Sticking points in the negotiations have included provisions for new media and redefinition of job categories.
