The Canada Media Fund on Thursday announced the launch of the $350,000 Digital Media Coproduction Incentive.
The pilot program is designed to stimulate digital media coproductions between Canadian and international producers.
Eligible projects will receive a non-repayable contribution of 25% of the Canadian portion of a project’s eligible costs, to a maximum of $100,000 per project.
The announcement follows the CMF, along with four other Canadian funding agencies, this week launching a new framework to support digital media coproductions.
Eligible projects can be digital media components in CMF convergent stream projects, or projects under its experimental stream.
Production companies will be able to apply to the new program starting on Oct. 1, 2013, with a deadline of Nov. 26, 2013.
The program’s full guidelines are available here.
The CMF in a statement said this is the first of two pilot programs to be launched this year; the second will be announced later this fall.
