Sanctuary renewed on Sci-Fi

Sanctuary has been renewed for a second season on Sci-Fi Channel, which this week ordered another 13 hours of the CG series. Sanctuary, seen in Canada on The Movie Network and Movie Central, is due to go back into production in Vancouver early in 2009.

The Vancouver-made series debuted to rosy numbers on Sci-Fi in early October, drawing 2.7 million viewers to its two-hour Friday slot. It was the number one program on cable in the 25-54 demo, and number four among the 18-49s.

The U.S. channel also noted that Sanctuary has boosted its online numbers, marking ‘the best performance online… in all key metrics’ for a series debut since measurement began in 2006. The Oct. 3 debut saw scifi.com climb to 1.2 million page views, 208,000 unique users, and 287,000 video streams.

Sanctuary is produced by Vancouver-based Sanctuary 1 Productions and distributed by Tricon Films and Television. The show is executive produced by Damian Kindler, Sam Egan, Amanda Tapping, Martin Wood, Keith Beedie, and N. John Smith.
