The Toronto International Film Festival on Tuesday unveiled a lengthy list of new films to its 2013 program, including its Wavelengths and Kids programs, additional galas, Special Presentation and Contemporary World Cinema programs.
Wavelengths
The experimental, artist-driven Wavelengths program features short, medium and feature-length films from established auteurs like Albert Serra and Ben Wheatley, and Canuck filmmakers including Stephen Broomer and Chris Kennedy.
The Wavelengths 1: Variations On… short film program includes the world premiere of the Academy Film Archive’s restoration of David Rimmer’s Variations on a Cellophane Wrapper, while Wavelengths 2: Now & Then includes Stephen Broomer’s Pepper’s Ghost, and Wavelengths 4: Elysium selection includes Chris Kennedy’s Brimstone Line.
In the Wavelengths features lineup, Canada-Denmark-Mexico-Philippines copro La ultima pelicula, from Raya Martin and Mark Peranson will have its world premiere.

Contemporary World Cinema
Returning this year as part of the Contemporary World Cinema lineup is the Contemporary World Speakers series, a partnership between TIFF and the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs. The initiative pairs five films in the program with Munk School scholars for extended discussions between the filmmakers and scholars following each film’s second public screening.
