The Montreal World Film Festival is to give Hollywood stage and screen star Kathleen Turner a Special Grand Prize of the Americas at its upcoming event.
“Her presence here honours us and reflects the festival’s reputation in the international film community,” MWFF president Serge Losique said in a statement Tuesday on news of her tribute.
Turner will be in Montreal, where she will take part in an informal interview, and see a number of films she starred in screen at the festival.
Her screen credits include Lawrence Kasdan’s Body Heat, Romancing the Stone, where Turner performed with Michael Douglas and Danny DeVito, and Peggy Sue Got Married in 1986, which earned her an Oscar nomination.
MWFF also announced this week that Alan Ladd Jr., the veteran Hollywood producer, will head up its international jury.
The 2013 Montreal World Film Festival will be held Aug. 22 to Sept. 2.
