E1’s big money-makers

E1’s Distribution
Terry Stevens, President

Based in Brampton, ON, Terry Stevens heads up E1’s Canadian wholesale DVD, CD and video game distribution business, which sells home video product from the major U.S. studios to grocery and drug stores and other non-traditional music and video retailers. The group also owns the CD Plus chain of 73 retail music stores in Canada.

‘We are the largest distributor of prerecorded video and music in Canada,’ says Stevens, who reports to CEO Darren Throop. ‘In addition to our partnerships with the major studios, we can use our knowledge of the retail market to ensure E1 content is exploited properly.’

The distribution division has a staff of approximately 400 employees, with additional facilities in Winnipeg, Vancouver, Calgary and Montreal.

E1’s Koch Entertainment
Michael Koch, Chief Executive Officer

Michael Koch is CEO of Entertainment One’s American music and video distribution operations, reporting directly to CEO Darren Throop.

In June 2005, E1 acquired New York-based Koch Entertainment, which runs the largest independent record label in the U.S., as well as its biggest indie music and video distribution company.

‘We are the U.S. platform for Entertainment One’s music and video distribution operations, and plan to grow these businesses,’ says Koch. ‘We have our own video label and video distribution focused on the American market, and as E1 secures film rights, we are integrating our approach on a worldwide basis.’
