Eric McLuhan, son of legendary media theorist Marshall McLuhan and co-author with him of the book Laws of Media, is to do a keynote speech at the inaugural Crossmedia Banff 2013 conference in September.
The two-day gathering by the Banff Centre and Jumpwire Media will also feature a special presentation by writer Andrew McLuhan, who is also Marshall McLuhan’s grandson, on new business models for the digital age.
He will also preview the McLuhan Library, his grandfather’s working library set to be housed and open to the public at the University of Toronto.
Other planned speakers and delegates booked into Crossmedia Banff include Trevor Doerksen, CEO and founder of Mobovivo; Brian Eoff, data scientist at Bitly, and BroadbandTV founder Shahrzad Rafati.
“Our partnership with the Banff Centre… coupled with our strong line-up of top digital media players including recognized theorist Eric McLuhan and his son Andrew McLuhan, prove our commitment to providing participants with real tangibles on how to create and distribute their digital media ideas and products across the various industry sectors,” Jumpwire Media founder Gavin McGarry, said in a statement.
Crossmedia Banff is set to run Sept. 23 and 24, 2013 in Banff.
