More money for CFC

Citytv has put $1 million into the Canadian Film Centre for the next five years, boosting the Toronto school’s Feature Film Project. The donation is part of the community funding that the CRTC required Rogers Communications to pay out when it bought the City stations from CHUM.

‘We are grateful to Citytv for their generous support and commitment they are giving to this program which has helped to launch the careers of so many Canadian filmmakers,’ said Slawko Klymkiw, CFC executive director, in a statement. ‘Citytv’s contribution assists in funding emerging Canadian artists and strengthening our national cinema.’

The FFP has turned out directors and producers including Clement Virgo, Vincenzo Natali, Damon D’Oliviera and Steve Hoban. The 17th feature to come out of the program, Charles Officer’s Nurse.Fighter.Boy, opens in Toronto and Vancouver on Friday.
