OLN schedule
OLN revealed its summer programming lineup earlier this week. The entirely new programs are acquisitions Meat Eater, an adventure factual series that follows hunter-gatherer Steven Rinella as he explores all manor of meat sourcing and preparing, and Buck Commander, a celebrity-oriented spin-off of super hit Duck Dynasty. Meanwhile, the lineup includes season three of its original series that focuses on the Canadian liquidation industry The Liquidator.
Milestones
Construction of the Canadian Film Centre’s new Northern Dancer Pavilion, which is to house the Toronto organization’s multidisciplinary programs, kicked off with a groundbreaking ceremony earlier this week.
On hand for the sod-turning was (from left to right): Slawko Klymkiw, CFC CEO; Lisa Raitt, federal minister of labour; Lucille Roch, vice-chairwoman of the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s board; Nancy Lockhart, the chair of the CFC Building Fund; Lynne St. David Jewison: Norman Jewison, CFC founder and chair emeritus; David Shiner, Toronto city councillor; Donald Ross, chairman of Jones Gable & Co and a CFC benefactor; Gretchen Ross: and Christina Jennings, co-chair of the CFC board of directors and chairman and CEO of Shaftesbury.
The pavilion is named after the famed Canadian racehorse. The CFC received a commitment of $9 million in new spending over three years from the Ontario government at the start of May.

Professional development
Enrollment in the NSI’s lifestyle and reality series producer course is now open, with the application deadline set for Oct. 3, 2013. The inaugural year of the course, which was fully funded by participating production companies, saw the 2012 students intern on well known productions including Big Coat Productions’ Love it or List it, Cineflix’ Property Brothers, Architect Films’ Decked Out, Cellar Door Productions’ Chef Michael’s Kitchen and Paperny Entertainment’s Yukon Gold. The program is supported by program partners Shaw Media, Bell Media and Corus Entertainment.
