BBC Three in the U.K. has acquired sci-fi series Orphan Black from Toronto-based Temple Street Productions.
The news follows recent 10-episode renewals for the clone conspiracy thriller by Bell Media’s Space and BBC America.
The series follows an orphan and outsider, played by Tatiana Maslany, who after witnesses the suicide of a woman and taking her identity, realizes they are clones. She finds herself in the middle of a mysterious conspiracy as she tries to uncover the truth about her identity.
Orphan Black also stars Maria Doyle Kennedy, Jordan Gavaris, Dylan Bruce, Kevin Hanchard and Michael Mando.
Orphan Black is produced by Temple Street Productions in association with BBC America and Space. Ivan Schneeberg and David Fortier are executive producers of the series, co-created by Graeme Manson and John Fawcett. Manson also serves as writer and Fawcett as director.
The season one finale airs on June 1 on Space and BBC America.
