Survivorman extinct

Interviewed at the RealScreen Summit, Survivorman Les Stroud talked about the end of his popular OLN series after three successful seasons. Stroud admitted he doesn’t want audiences to get tired of the show, and suggested the series was taking a toll. ‘I’ve slept on the rocks, in the mud and I’m not getting any younger,’ he said. Although Survivorman has run its course, Stroud will remain in the entertainment space with books and other media.

When asked if he chose to film the series himself for budgetary reasons, Stroud said that while budget played a role, it really came down to the fact that he didn’t think audiences would watch a show about survival if they thought it was being filmed by a cameraman lounging around eating Mars bars. Although the crew did come out with him the first day to get some beauty shots, Stroud is alone during the rest of the shooting.
