The Canada Media Fund on Wednesday announced a $3 million Anglophone minority incentive program to encourage English-language TV convergent production by Quebec companies.
The incentive will be available in the form of a CMF licence fee top-up contribution of 15% of a TV component’s eligible costs, to a maximum of $1 million per project.
The incentive can also be combined with other CMF funding and will be awarded separately and in addition to any amounts received from other CMF programs.
Eligible projects for the program are convergent projects, projects with TV component and any or a combination of digital media components, VOD presentation of the TV component or digital distribution of the TV component.
The TV component of the project must be originally produced in English and fully financed at time of application. The CMF added that the English-language projects from Quebec will no longer be able to access the English Production Incentive. The full program guidelines are available on the CMF’s website.
Companies can apply to the Anglo incentive May 7 to Nov. 26, 2013 or until funds are depleted, the CMF said.
The CMF on Thursday also said that it has closed its Convergent Digital Media Incentive (CDMI) for English-language projects due to the number of applications it has received.
