Prodigy Pictures, Seven Arts Entertainment pen TV deal

Jay Firestone’s Prodigy Pictures has entered into TV production joint venture with Seven Arts Entertainment.

The initial production output from the deal are: Johnny Mnemonic, a futuristic television series based on the sci-fi film movie starring Keanu Reeves (and adapted from a William Gibson short story); Romeo Spy, a mini-series based on the true story of John Symonds, a British police officer who was recruited into the KGB; and Storyville, a period series conceived by Sherri Strain that focuses on the legalization of prostitution in New Orleans between 1887 and 1917, a period which also saw the birth of modern jazz.

The pact signifies an expansion into the small-screen side of the industry for U.K.-registered, Los Angeles-headquartered Seven Arts, which formally focused on movies.
