Ford upped at Fireworks

Fireworks International has promoted digital exec Jonathan Ford to EVP of digital acquisitions and distribution as part of a management shuffle.

Ford, who joined Toronto-based Fireworks International in 2006, was most recently VP of digital distribution, responsible for licensing new and library properties to international digital media channels for the TV distribution arm of London-based ContentFilm.

In his expanded role, Ford will partner with producers of original broadband and mobile content, preferably from the development stage, and help finance and sell that content internationally.

Ford’s digital division at Fireworks International will operate alongside the distributor’s existing fiction and factual divisions, which distribute a host of Canadian product, including the CBC series Wild Roses, The Border and Heartland.

Fireworks International president Greg Phillips also promoted Patrick O’Connor-Read, who joined the company last year, to director of digital distribution.

That latest promotions also follow Fireworks International in February inking a five-year deal to distribute reality TV series from a new production company launched by ContentFilm and former September Films executive Jeff Collins.
