CBC producer Deborah Sharp Furlong has been killed in a head-on car crash while holidaying in Ireland.
Sharp Furlong, 48, was most recently associate producer on Arctic Air, from Omnifilm Entertainment and Arctic Air Productions.
“It is with a broken heart that I must tell you of the death of my beloved wife Deborah Sharp Furlong as a result of an automobile accident while driving alone while on vacation in the southeast of Ireland on April 11, 2013,” husband John Furlong, who also organized the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games, said in a statement Friday on news of his wife’s death.
“While our extended families are beyond words over this loss, we would like to thank our friends and well-wishers for their heartfelt concern and condolences as our families face this sudden and painful tragedy,” he added.
Sharp Furlong’s other TV credits included Cold Squad, The Guard, Search and Rescue, and Flash Gordon.
Sharp Furlong is survived by her husband and two children.
