Two teams of Canadian filmmakers will take part in next month’s Tribeca Film Festival, via the Canadian Film Centre.
Producer Jennifer Holness (Love, Sex and Eating the Bones) and director Sudz Sutherland (Guns) will be at the New York festival with Home Again, a drama about three adults who are deported back to their country of birth, Jamaica, while producer Andrew Rosen and writer/star K’naan Warsame will be at the New York festival with their The River of Blood, a feature based on the latter’s experiences growing-up in Somalia.
The four are headed to the fest through Tribeca All Access, a bridge-building effort with lesser-known filmmaking communities that last year expanded to bring in international participants. This year will also see filmmakers fly in from the U.K. and Australia.
‘Once again we are proud to be the sole Canadian organization working with Tribeca All Access. The teams and the stories chosen this year reflect the rich cross-cultural voices we have in Canada,’ said CFC boss Slawko Klymkiw in a statement.
The films will screen out of competition. Tribeca All Access runs along the festival, which bows on April 22.
