Peter Menzies is now a full-time commissioner at the CRTC, following word on Monday from Heritage Minister James Moore.

Menzies, who has been with the federal regulator part-time since late 2007, represents Alberta and the Northwest Territories.

He is currently head of his own media consulting firm in Calgary, and was editor in chief of the Calgary Herald from 1999 to 2003.

‘Mr. Menzies’ talent and experience in leading teams and managing high levels of performance make him an ideal candidate for the responsibilities entrusted to him,’ said Moore in a statement.
