Discovery Enterprises International ups Wagner

Elliot Wagner has been upped at Discovery Enterprises International (DEI), from director of program sales and private networks, to VP of program sales and Canadian partnerships.

In the role Wagner will oversee international program sales of the Discovery Communications library across North and South America, manage the company’s private networks business worldwide and spearhead DEI’s third-party representation initiative.

He is also tasked with the day-to-day management of the Canadian joint venture partnership across all Discovery Channels’ international lines of business. His role will encompass developing a business strategy for Canada that includes digital, and overseeing all commercial aspects of Discovery’s joint venture operating agreements.

He will also be responsible for maximizing synergies for the Canadian business with U.S. network programmers, global advertising sales, marketing and business affairs and identifying new growth opportunities in the market, including new channel launches and extending the business into French-speaking Canada.

He will continue to report to Nicolas Bonard, senior vice president, Discovery Enterprises International and general manager forFrance; and Enrique Martinez, president and managing director, Discovery Networks Latin America, U.S. Hispanic and Canada.

“He has an innate knowledge of the Discovery business and the necessary skills and passion to drive the business forward through program sales and the development of the channel, content and brands in new markets,” said Bonard of Wagner.
