Production has wrapped in Los Angeles on Vancouver-based Odyssey Media’s latest feature film, Out of Reach.
The film, with an original screenplay written by Vancouver screenwriter Gayl DeCoursey, stars Being Erica‘s Erin Karpluk, Lochlyn Munro (True Justice) and Jamie Lunar (All My Children).
Out of Reach is about a woman who struggles to protect her husband and daughter from a New Age cult, after her husband takes on two new clients who lure him away and seek custody of her daughter.
“Over the years, many people close to me have been involved in various sects – from religious to corporate. The Jonestown tragedy too affected me deeply so I’ve always wanted to explore on-screen what causes bright people to put their lives in the hands of self-proclaimed gurus. With Out of Reach, I set out to create characters that face the all-too-real challenges surrounding one person in a marriage leaving the other for a cult, plus the subsequent disintegration of that relationship and the effect on the children,” said DeCoursey in a statement.
Odyssey produced the film with L.A.-based Pulser Productions and The Cartel. Odyssey’s Kirk Shaw is exec producer, and Devi Singh is producer. Stan Spry is the producer for Pulser Productions.
