Looking to follow up on Soul, VisionTV wants to commission another series and is seeking pitches for a half-hour dramedy.
The multi-faith channel, which earlier this year debuted Halifax Film’s Soul to warm reviews, is looking for a show that will click with its female-leaning 50-plus audience — something budgeted between $200,000 and $300,000 per episode.
The deadline for submissions is June 15. The channel hopes to wrap shooting by March 2010 and take between six and 13 half-hours to air that fall.
‘The experience of developing Soul deepened our appreciation for the wealth of independent production talent in this country,’ says Joan Jenkinson, director of independent production at Vision’s parent, S-VOX.
The six-part Soul is due to be rerun Monday nights this summer, starting June 15.
