Rogers Fund invests $5.1 million in latest round

The Rogers Documentary and Cable Network Fund has invested $5.1 million in 14 TV projects in its latest round.

The investments include for the Discovery Channel Canada, BrandMADE, produced by Andrew Burnstein and Catherine Legge; a second season of Dangerous Flights from Pixcom Productions and a second season of Pyros from Pyros 2 Productions.

Also receiving Rogers coin are Rhombus Media’s Sensitive Skin and FG-REEL’s Reelside , both for The Movie Network and Movie Central, received investment.

A fifth season of Ice Pilots, from Vancouver’s Omnifilm for History Television received funding, while Tales from the Organ Trade from AP OT Productions, attached to History Television, Canal D and the U.S.’ HBO is also a recipient.

And a second season of Fugget About It from FAI 2 Productions for Teletoon, and National Park Mysteries from Galafilm for Biography Channel and the U.S.’ Travel also received investment.

Elsewhere, upcoming sci-fi series Bitten, produced by eOne for Bell Media’s Space; Code Breakers from AP Codebreakers Productions for Vision TV and Discovery Science in the U.S.; Rotating Planet’s The Family Farm for documentary and Adobe Productions International’s The Last Place on Earth for Discovery World HD also received funding in the latest round.

The Rogers group of funds provides funding, loans or equity investment to Canadian indie producers.

Rogers Media also recently announced a development fund for emerging Alberta and Manitoba producers to develop innovative Canadian film, TV or digital projects.
