Telefilm to take 11 Canadian short films to French market

Telefilm Canada’s Not Short on Talent initiative is taking 11 Canadian short films to the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Market in France, the organization said late last week.

The market runs parallel to the 35th Clermont-Ferrant International Short Film Festival.

Curator Danny Lennon put the 100-minute Canadian program together from more than 150 submissions.

The films are a mix of dark comedy, animation, fantasy and experimental drama from filmmakers across the country, including Quebec, B.C., and Nova Scotia.

The initiative is designed to increase international distribution of new Canadian short films and promote Canadian talent to buyers and international festival programmers.

This is the fourth edition of the Not Short on Talent initiative. The program also presented Canadian short films at the Cannes Film Festival in 2011 and 2012, and at the Festival Off-Courts Trouville in 2012.
