Semi Chellas has secured a pair of nominations from the 2013 Writers Guild of America TV awards, leading the pack of Canadian screenwriters working south of the border to receive nods.

Chellas received nominations in the best drama series category for her work on Mad Men, alongside show creator Matthew Weiner and 12 of their writing colleagues on the Lionsgate-made period drama.

She and Wiener, who earlier in the year were nominated for Primetime Emmys, also are nominated in the episodic drama category, for their work on the installment “The Other Woman.”

Additionally, Chris Haddock has been nominated in the drama series category for his work on Boardwalk Empire, along with eight of his pen-wielding colleagues on the crime drama.

Norm Hiscock has been nominated in the comedy series category for Parks and Recreation. Seventeen of his writing partners on the show are named in the nomination also.

Canuck writer and producer Ted Mann has also been nominated, along with Ronald Parker, for his work on the teleplay of Hatfields and McCoy‘s episode “Nights Two and Three,” based on a story by Mann and Bill Kerby. Their nomination is in the long form – original category.

As well, Lorne Michaels also received a nomination, along with a large stable of the Saturday Night Live writers. His nomination falls in the comedy/variety (including talk) – series.

The TV nominees were announced in Los Angeles on Thursday.

The awards will be handed out Feb. 17 during simultaneous events in New York and L.A.
