Crazy8s short film finalists announced

The dozen B.C. filmmaker finalists in the 14th annual Crazy8s competition were announced this week.

The finalists are as follows:

  • A Toast to the King, written and directed by Quinn Spicker
  • Ali Up the Alley, written by Tashfeen Mahmud and directed by Paul Weston
  • AutoConnect, written and directed by Jackie Hoffart and produced by Brie Koniczek
  • Braindamage, written and directed by Matt Leaf
  • Fade Out, written and directed by Agam Darshi and produced by Crystal Lowe and Sandy Sidhu
  • Happy Homecoming, written and produced by Prsy Szabo and directed by Nimisha Mukerji
  • Is Your Husband Korean?, written and directed by Su Yon Sohn and produced by Jacquie Sinclair
  • Manstruation, written by Chris Lee and directed by Ryan Haneman
  • Stewing, written by Patrick Currie and directed by S. Tyson
  • Under the Bridge of Fear, written and directed by Mackenzie Gray
  • Weeper, written and directed by Wayne Robinson
  • When I Saw You, written and directed by Jane Hancock

The jury narrowed down a list of 40 semi-finalists to the shortlist who will move on to the script development phase. The finalists will be paired with a professional story editor to hone their scripts, before presenting them to the jury in late December.

The jury will then select six winners, to be announced Jan. 7, 2013, to participate in the eight-day filmmaking program.

The films will then have their gala premieres on Feb. 23 in Vancouver.
