DHX Media partners with Amazon’s European digital channel

Halifax-based kids producer and distributor DHX Media has partnered with Amazon’s European digital media subsidiary LOVEFiLM to add close to 1,000 half-hours of DHX’s library to its offerings.

The deal is for a non-exclusive SVOD U.K. licence for LOVEFiLM, Europe’s largest subscription service, to provide new kids TV series from DHX’s library, like Mona the Vampire, Paddington Bear and Sonic the Hedgehog.

LOVEFiLM already offers existing DHX properties like Inspector Gadget and Dennis The Menace.

“Just like LOVEFiLM we are market leaders and DHX Media’s shows already air on some of the top European broadcast destinations, so this is a natural partnership,” said DHX CEO Michael Donovan in a statement.

“DHX Media has created some of the best children’s TV of recent years and we are pleased to offer our members access to their shows. We are noticing that more of our customers than eer are using our streaming service as a quick and easy way to entertain their families, so naturally the addition of shows such as Mona the Vampire and Paddington Bear is an exciting prospect for us,” said LOVEFiLM managing director Jim Buckle in his own statement.
