Lawrence & Holloman in production in Vancouver

Production is underway in Vancouver on Matthew Kowalchuk’s directorial feature debut Lawrence & Holloman.

The dark comedy feature,co-written by Daniel Arnold and Kowalchuk, stars Ben Cotton (Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome), Arnold, Katherine Isabelle (American Mary) and Amy Matysio (Just Friends).

Lawrence & Holloman portays two men, an optimistic suit salesman and a cynical accounting clerk, as their opposing outlooks on life collide.

The film is based on the play by Canadian playwright Morris Panych.

The film’s creators have also launched an Indiegogo campaign, asking for funds or in-kind donations to boost the film’s production value, through enhanced camera equipment and rentals, a Greenscreen to do visual effects and extra promo and marketing materials.

Lawrence & Holloman is produced by Paul Armstrong of Vancouver-based Ameland Films, Arnold and Kowalchuk. Mary Anne Waterhouse and Andrew Currie of Vancouver- and L.A.-based Quadrant Motion Pictures are exec producers. Robyn Wiener is co-producer/line producer and Don Thompson of Finale Editworks is associate producer.

The film received development funding from the Harold Greenberg Fund, Corus Entertainment and British Columbia Film, and production funding from Telefilm.

OutTV is on board to broadcast the film. A turn on the festival circuit is planned for fall 2013, followed by a theatrical release.

Lawrence & Holloman is shooting in Vancouver, Mission, Maple Ridge and Abbotsford B.C. until Nov. 30.
