Hilary Read is out as COO of BBC Worldwide Canada as part of a restructuring.
There was no word Tuesday about a replacement for Read, who joined BBC Worldwide in 1980, and launched its Canadian program sales hub.
She went on to launch BBC World in 1999, establishing a partnership with Alliance Atlantis to launch BBC Canada, BBC Kids in 2001.
Read then worked with Discovery Canada to establish Animal Planet Canada.
She also stickhandled a partnership deal with Temple Street Productions as BBC Worldwide built out its international network.
“Hilary has been the linchpin of BBC Worldwide in Canada,” Ann Sarnoff, COO of BBC Worldwide America, said in a statement while thanking Read as she makes way for the exit.
“I’ve had a great career with BBC Worldwide and I wish the company the very best,” Read said in her own statement.
