Telefilm Canada is supporting six English-language feature films through the Canada Feature Film Fund, committing a $6.4 million total investment.
In the Atlantic region, All the Wrong Reasons, written and directed by Gia Milani and Hold Fast, directed by Justin S. Simms, received an investment, the funding body announced Tuesday.
All the Wrong Reasons, produced by Buffalo Gal Pictures and distributed by Pacific Northwest Pictures, is about two characters whose lives intersect in a big box department store, and how they deal with the aftermath of a traumatic event.
Hold Fast, written by Rosemary House and produced by Rock Island Productions, follows a teen boy who tries to adjust to life with his authoritarian uncle after the deaths of his parents. The film is distributed by eOne.
And receiving investment from the Ontario-Nunavut region, Jason Priestley’s Cas & Dylan, produced by Montefiore Films and written by Jessica Gabe, is the story of a dying man who ends up on the lam with an “anything-but-normal” 22-year-old girl. The film, distributed by Pacific Northwest Pictures in Canada and Breakthrough internationally, stars Richard Dreyfuss and Tatiana Maslany.
Also receiving support are Richie Mehta’s I’ll Follow You Down, his follow-up to his acclaimed film Amal, produced by Resolute Films and Entertainment and distributed by eOne; and Uvanga, written and directed by Marie-Helene Cousineau, produced by Arnait Video Productions and distributed by Mongrel Media.
And Michael Dowse’s F Word, a Canada-Ireland copro written by Elan Mastai, also received an investment. The film, starring Daniel Radcliffe (pictured), Zoe Kazan, Rafe Spall and Megan Park, follows a young man who tests the idea of being “just friends” with a girl he meets at a party. F Word is produced by David Gross Productions and distributed by eOne.
