Discovery World HD Canada has greenlit a second season of The Chef’s Domain from Toronto-based Lively Media, company president and exec producer Leanna Crouch announced Thursday.
“Satisfying wanderlust and tempting the palate – right in our own backyard – The Chef’s Domain will be the perfect addition to Discovery World HD’s spring lineup. The series’ diverse locations, regional crops and cuisines, passionate chefs and logistical challenges will make for compelling viewing,” said Stan Lipsey, the series’ exec producer for Discovery World HD in a statement.
The series focuses on the local food movement in Canada and its culinary challenge. Each episode follows a top restaurant chef searching for ingredients from local suppliers in preparation for a significant culinary event.
For the second season, the series will put a greater focus on the specific locales where each chef works, and will travel from Vancouver Island to Newfoundland.
“The landscape will be a central character in the show, as we go across the country to celebrate the beauty and bounty of this country with some of the most respected chefs in Canada,” said Crouch, who is exec producing, in her own statement.
The first season of The Chef’s Domain aired on CTV and Travel + Escape in 2008.
