Falling Skies lands on Space

Space announced Thursday that it has acquired the first season of Falling Skies.

The series, which is executive produced by Steven Spielberg and features Canucks Peter Shinkoda, Saraha Carter and TIFF Rising Star Connor Jessup, tells the story of the survivors of an alien attack who band together to fight for the existence of the human race.

Noah Wyle, Moon Bloodgood and Will Patton also star.

Shot in Hamilton and Oshawa, Ont., and Burnaby, B.C., the Canada-U.S. copro had its first run north of the border on the pay-TV service, Super Channel.

Falling Skies finished its second season stateside in August, and has already been renewed for a third season, which is currently in production and scheduled to launch in summer 2013.

The series is co-executive produced by Justified series creator and Canuck screenwriter Graham Yost.

It premieres Monday Oct. 8 at 9 p.m on Space.
