Production is underway on the first season of original series Offbeat Roads, produced by Toronto-based NuvuFilms for Travel + Escape.

The six-episode extreme cycling series features guide Scotty Robinson, owner of Toronto-based cycle touring adventure company Offbeat Roads, taking a group of cyclists on a 30-day trip through the desert basin Danakil Depression in Ethiopia.

Offbeat Roads is directed and exec produced by Jeff Gruen and produced by Samantha Kaine Gruen.

The series is slated to premiere on Travel + Escape in winter 2013.

Travel + Escape, a GlassBox Television channel featuring travel-themed programming, last week announced the start of production on road trip food series Rebel Without a Kitchen.
