WIFT-T, Picture Box announce distrib and marketing mentorship

Women in Film and Televison – Toronto (WIFT-T) has partnered with Picture Box Distribution for the 2012 WIFT-T Picture Box Television Distribution Mentorship.

“This mentorship is significant because it fills a training gap not only in WIFT-T’s program slate, but also in the industry as a whole. The winner will receive an unparalleled opportunity to learn from leading porfesiosnals and gain hands-on work experience in the distribution sector,” said WIFT-T exec director Heather Webb in a statement.

The mentorship will provide an three-month internship to one emerging Canadian female professional to learn about distribution, marketing and selling of Canadian shows internationally, working alongside Picture Box partners Kate Sanagan and Marilyn Kynaston.

The mentee will prepare for and attend MIPTV with Picture Box in April 2013, attend meetings with international producers and broadcasters and learn about acquisitions and content packaging for international markets.

The mentorship takes place in Toronto starting in February 2013, and ends after attendance at MIPDoc/MIPTV in Cannes that April.

The deadline for applications is Aug. 20,  and the selected mentorship recipient will be announced in October.
