Vérité Films president Virginia Thompson has joined the National Screen Institute board of directors.

“[Thompson]’s a dynamic and well-respected member of the Canadian television industry who will bring a unique energy and perspective to the many new initiatives being developed by NSI,” NSI board chairs Brad Pelman and Raja Khanna said in a statement.

“As an NSI Features First alumna, I know first-hand how important training is to our industry. Joining the board of NSI is a great honour and a terrific opportunity to help build the next generation of Canadian storytellers,” Thompson said her own statement.

Thompson was most recently exec producer and co-creator of Saskatchewan-filmed CBC show InSecurity.

Her producer credits also include Corner Gas, renegadepress.com and Incredible Story Studio.

Thompson joins NSI board members that includes members like Norm Bolen, APTN CEO Jean LaRose, Shaw Media original content VP Christine Shipton and Manitoba Film and Music CEO and film commissioner Carole Vivier.

Vérité Films recently announced that the company will relocate to Toronto, after Saskatchewan’s refundable tax credit was eliminated.
