CMPA partners with Ryerson’s RTA for transmedia training

The Canadian Media Production Association unveiled Wednesday its latest collaborative program, the Transmedia Production Acceleration Program, an opportunity for up-and-coming transmedia producers to hone their production skills.

The CMPA will join forces with Ryerson University’s RTA School of Media to provide transmedia training through a workshop and mentorship program, supported by the OMDC’s Entertainment and Creative Cluster Partnerships Fund.

“Audiences expect to access content across different platforms and channels. This program will help the next generation of producers succeed in creating content to meet viewer demand,” said CMPA VP and recording secretary, Suzanne Vaas, in a statement.

The program will begin with a full-day workshop for 40 transmedia producers, offered by RTA and focused on business models, production skills and content generation.

Of those 40 participants, 18 will go on to complete five-month job placements with Ontario-based transmedia production companies.

Each trainee will receive a minimum $12,000 stipend for placement.

Each mentor company must contribute at least $3,000 towards that stipend, while the program will contribute $9,000.

The deadline for the Transmedia Production Acceleration Program is Sept. 4, 2012.
