Irene Weibel has been promoted to VP, head of Corus Entertainment-owned Nelvana Studio.

“Irene is recognized internationally for her creative and production talent in the industry. This appointment enables us to build on Nelvana’s track record of programming excellence and positions us optimally for even greater success in the international marketplace,” said Nelvana managing director Colin Bohm, in a statement.

Weibel was previously Nelvana’s VP, international production and development.

She will oversee development and production of all original Nelvana productions, the studio’s creative direction and coordinate development, series production, distribution and consumer products groups as they launch new brands in the marketplace.

Weibel will be based in Los Angeles and Toronto. Her appointment is effective immediately.
