Skye & Chang pilot to begin production June 9

Skye & Chang, a one-hour sci-fi martial arts series that stars Sera-Lys McArthur and Olivia Cheng, is set to begin production in June 9.

The series, which premieres this fall on APTN, features McArthur (Arctic Air) and Cheng (Eureka) as friends running a martial arts studio and bodyguard company, while also defending ordinary people from corruption.

The pilot also stars James Tsai.

Skye & Chang is created by Cree filmmaker Loretta Sarah Todd, who wrote the pilot and will direct and produce the series.

“As a sci-fi nerd, I believe that Skye & Chang will appeal to all – it is intended to bring together the Aboriginal and Asian community and put their stories at the centre of mainstream media,” Todd said in a statement.

Former APTN director of programming Peter Strutt will executive produce the series, with Vancouver’s Qube Film providing production services.

The series is funded by the Canada Media Fund, APTN and provincial tax credits.

Skye & Chang will be filmed in Vancouver’s Chinatown and downtown east side.
