Writers Guild of Canada unveils new council

The Writers Guild of Canada has elected its council and executive team for the next two-year term.

Screenwriter and webseries creator Jill Golick will continue as WGC president, supported by showrunner Andrew Wreggitt as VP and Flashpoint co-creator and showrunner Mark Ellis as treasurer.

Representing the council regionally are Michael Amo for Atlantic, Denis McGrath for central, Anne-Marie Perotta for Quebec and newcomer Dennis Heaton for the Pacific region.

The council and executive will lead the WGC in a two-year term, ending Apr. 30, 2014.

Departing the council is Charles (Chuck) Lazer, a founding force of the WGC and former president of the ACTRA Writers Guild of Toronto branch.

Lazer received the WGC Writers Block Award at last week’s WGC Screenwriting Awards for his record of service to screenwriters in Canada.
