Sony Pictures’ Crackle video web site is expanding Canadian distribution to Blu-ray and network media players.

The digital platform, which offers hundreds of TV and movie titles for free viewing on-demand with ads, started out on the iPad, iPhone and iPod apps.

Full-length movies and TV series from Columbia Pictures, TriStar Pictures, Screen Gems and Sony Pictures Classics will also be distributed here on BRAVIA TV screens.

The Crackle site competes with Netflix Canada, Hulu and video on-demand services operated by domestic cable operators.

Crackle movies and TV shows are uncut, even as viewers face snap commercial breaks.
