Well, actors aren’t known to pass up gigs, especially when it’s a CBS comedy pilot.
SCTV star Andrea Martin on Wednesday pulled out as co-host of Thursday’s 2012 Genie Awards in Toronto to jump on an airplane for acting duties elsewhere.
“I’m so disappointed that I can’t co-host the Genies with my friend George Stroumboulopoulos as planned,” she said in a statement released late Wednesday.
“I was in Toronto, in my fabulous Lucian Matis gown, rehearsing, and I got a call about a prior work commitment that has been rescheduled and that I am obligated to show up for,” Martin said.
The CBC.ca website reported Martin is slated to work on the untitled CBS comedy vehicle for Ben Falcone and Melissa McCarthy.
Martin plays the mother of Falcone’s character.
“You’ll still see me in the show, and I will be there in spirit to support all the extraordinary artists in the Canadian film industry who we will be honouring and celebrating tomorrow night,” Martin added.
