The CRTC on Friday approved an application from Glassbox Television to operate Glassbox Horror, which will feature horror and thriller movies, and magazine-style shows devoted to the horror and thriller genres.
Last week, Glassbox received an approval to operate French-language specialty channel Glassbox Système.
No more than 25% of monthly programming will be drawn from the thriller genre, according to the licence condition.
Canyon.TV was also approved Friday for WANDS Auto TV, which will feature programming related to the automotive genre, including auctions, motor, custom and trade shows.
Canyon.TV accepted the condition that only 10% of monthly programming would be taken from the professional sports category.
Licences will be issued once the applicants have entered into distribution agreements with at least one licensed distributor, respectively, and inform the commission of a launch date, no later than four years from the decision date. The licences expire Aug. 31, 2018.
