Vancouver indie producer Kirk Shaw has made it official.
He’s making a long-awaited move to Odyssey Media.
Having produced a string of movies like the Charlize Theron-starrer Battle in Seattle and Kill Switch as Shaw ran Insight Film Studios, he has now joined his newly-launched indie Odyssey Media as an executive consultant and producer.
Odyssey, which launched in 2011 with offices in Vancouver and Brisbane, Australia, does production financing and packaging on a range of movie titles.
Recent Odyssey credits include partnering with U.S.-based Zero Gravity and Australia’s Limelight International on the Ray Liotta-starring theatrical feature Bad Karma.
Kirk Shaw has a producer credit on the Bad Karma project, and is looking to do more at Odyssey.
“I know I can tailor cast, funding sources and filming locations around the globe to match the unique requirements of a variety of feature films Odyssey currently has in the works, as well as bring my projects to Odyssey by leveraging short-term funding to back pay-or-play deals for actors, cash-flow prep and to confidently secure optimum distribution value,” Shaw said Tuesday.
Odyssey’s 2012 slate includes Steve Williams’ Jet Stream to be shot in Bulgaria, where it has a strategic partnership with local producers, Brian Trenchard-Smith’s Deception, starring Cuba Gooding Jr and Emmanuelle Vaugier, to shoot in Australia, and Cross the Dog set to shoot in the U.S.
