Astral Media CFO Claude Gagnon to retire

Astral Media CFO Claude Gagnon is retiring today (Jan. 31), after 20 years with the Montreal-based broadcaster.

“Claude has been one of the architects of Astral’s transformation into a pure-play media company and played a key role in our many acquisitions and asset dispositions over the years. I wish to sincerely thank Claude for his great contribution to our evolution and growth and wish him well in his future endeavors and as he contemplates taking a much deserved retirement,” Ian Greenberg, president and CEO at Astral, said Monday in a statement.

Gagnon will be replaced by Robert Fortier, who has been VP of finance at Astral since October 2005.

Before joining Astral, Fortier was VP of finance at Microcell Telecommunications, which operates under the brand name Fido.
