With kids these days moving seamlessly from viewing video to virtual worlds and video games, the Toronto International Film Festival has unveiled spin-off events from its long-running Sprockets kids festival franchise.

The Sprockets Toronto International Film Festival for Children and Youth, now in its 15th year, will be split into separate events to run from April 10 to 22, 2012.

The TIFF Kids International Film Festival will focus on traditional film for kids aged 3 to 13, while the TIFF Kids digiPlaySpace will offer an interactive environment filled with interactive games, apps and other digital tools and hands-on digital production.

And the Toronto festival is also launching the TIFF Next Wave Film Festival from May 10 to 12, 2012 to offer film for young people aged 14 to 18.

The three festivals will take place at the TIFF Bell Lightbox, with the TIFF Kids digiPlaySpace taking over the first floor gallery space.
