As Russell Brand jumps on U.S. television, FX Canada has snagged the Canadian rights to the British comic’s upcoming late night talk show for its own male-skewing schedule.
The 6 x 30-minute series from FX Productions, to be taped before a live audience and to bow this spring, will be FX Canada’s first late night talker after first rolling out U.S. scripted dramas like American Horror Story, Wilfred, The League, Lights Out, Terriers and Sons of Anarchy.
Rogers Media president of broadcasting Scott Moore in a statement Wednesday said a series where Russell Brand waxes comically about politics and pop culture is “on brand” with FX Canada’s current roster of programming.
Brand is best known to Canadians for his movie credits, including Arthur, Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Get Him to the Greek.
His live comedy talker is produced by FX Productions, in association with Branded Films and Dakota Films.
Executive producers are Brand, Troy Miller, and Nik Linnen.
