Rainmaker Entertainment’s animated short, Luna, has picked up the award for Best Animated Short at the California International Shorts Festival (CISF).
The film was written and produced by Rainmaker president and executive producer Catherine Wilder, inspired by an original concept by in-house producer Luke Carroll. Donna Brockopp directed.
The CISF win is the first award for Luna. The film has been recognized as an official selection at the New York City International Film Festival, the Chicago Children’s Festival and FLICKERS Rhode Island Film Festival. It debuted in August at SIGGRAPH 2011.
The five-minute CG animated film noir short is about the flirtatious courtship of stunning, graceful moth (Luna), first by a charming caterpillar (Silky), and then by another suave moth suitor.
Luna will screen at the CISF on Dec. 17.
Rainmaker’s latest animated project is the full-length feature Escape from Planet Earth. The prodco recently hired Circle of Confusion to get its animation properties onto online and other digital platforms.
